A glimpse of what is to come
The iArts year two students are kicking off their next project!
After they have successfully wrapped up their last project "anima factura; an ode to the life to be created", an installation exhibited at the Dutch Design Week 2017, they are excited to begin their next project.
This project is divided into two phases. Phase 1, which will last until the end of 2017, will be all about skill training: the students will be given classes by Hans Lasschuit and Jo van Laar, who are usually teaching at the Maastricht Theatre Academy. Hans Lasschuit deals with ICT (information and communications technology) and Jo van Laar teaches students how to work both in front of and behind the camera in the Theatre Academy’s AV studio. Their classes will be about professional filmmaking, including not only properly adjusting camera settings, lighting etc., but also proper editing and formatting.
Next to that, the new member of the iArts staff Sem Shayne will be coaching the students in realizing works about their own passions in the field of photography.
In addition, guest teacher Anne Büscher will be providing the second year students with time and space for coached experimenting with different materials in the Academy’s workshops, such as the bookmaking or ceramics workshop.
In Phase 2 of the project, the students will be using their newly acquired skills to develop individual filming projects within the first two months of the new year. All of their works will be based around the topic “the world in transition”, dealing with societal, scientific, ethical, political and economical issues.
